This dreamy summer pastel wedding was the perfect celebration to close out my time photographing weddings in Missouri before our move to South Dakota. I couldn’t have asked for a sweeter couple to end that chapter with. Jordyn and Evan brought so much joy, intention, and personality into their day—from their charming color palette to their welcoming, relaxed atmosphere—and it all came together beautifully at the Hawthorne House.
As a former Missouri wedding photographer now based in South Dakota, it felt meaningful to photograph one last celebration filled with the soft colors, warm summer light, and heartfelt moments I’ve always loved about Midwest weddings. And these two made it unforgettable.
Jordyn and Evan chose the most beautiful mix of pastel tones for their summer wedding. Soft blues, blush pinks, gentle lilacs, and buttery creams tied the entire day together without ever feeling overwhelming. The colors paired perfectly with the timeless look of Hawthorne House, giving the whole wedding a romantic, airy feel.
From the bridesmaids’ dresses to the floral arrangements, every detail was cohesive and intentional—a photographer’s dream when it comes to color harmony and natural light.
One of the things that stood out most about this wedding was how calm and present Jordyn and Evan were throughout the day. Their wedding party brought so much fun energy, keeping the laughter flowing from the moment everyone started getting ready.
And of course, their adorable dog made several appearances, adding even more personality to the celebration. (Every wedding is better with a pup involved.)
The ceremony was intimate and sweet, surrounded by friends and family who absolutely adore them. The reception carried that same warmth, filled with happy tears, meaningful toasts, and a dance floor that stayed full long into the night.
Photographing this Hawthorne House wedding was such a full-circle moment. It reminded me of all the amazing couples I’ve met in Missouri over the years and made me incredibly grateful before officially relocating to South Dakota.
While I’m now photographing weddings and elopements throughout Rapid City and the Black Hills, Missouri will always hold a special place in my heart—especially because of couples like Evan and Jordyn.
Celebrating your love was truly an honor. Your pastel summer wedding was soft, joyful, elegant, and full of heart. I can’t wait to share the full film soon.
Full film coming soon!
